A day in the life

It was exactly 29.04.2015 When an incident happened at my aunt house. It was a very sad day. My uncle had died of a sudden illness that day. A very unexpected death and one that made me very sad. The body was brought home that afternoon and prepared for the funeral services. An automatic nestcafe machine was brought along to entertain the funeral guests and ease the mourning. I used it to entertain the crowd by getting coffees for the guests. Eventually the services spanned out into early morning and around 1 am when I was going to the kitchen, when suddenly the Nescafe machine started working on its own at the same time. At the time I was quite young so I got very scared when I saw what was happening. Not only me but my elder brothers and sisters were also scared. We thought it was a ghost, as there were such believes surrounding strange things happening at funerals. Colours Award Ceremony 2018-2022

I studied in Rathnavali Girls' High School in Gampaha. Our principal conducted a function for the school on 05.02.2023 to evaluate the talent of the children attending the school. National and international achievements of the students from the years 2018 to 2022 were appreciated. It was a very grand event. Mr. Arjuna Ranthunga was the guest of honor.  Our principal gave the welcome speech for the colorful main event. Different cultural aspects were presented by adding different colors from different backgrounds to the functions. I was also a color recipient of this main event and it made me very happy to have received the opportunity. By far the thing that made me the happiest was meeting my school friends again after 3 years, a definite highlight of the event. It was also the first and last time that I watched my younger sisters perform from the audience after having been on stage for so long. That day is another unforgettable day in my life.

One Of My Gifts

  We all like to get presents. This story is about a gift from my friends for my 15th birthday. My friends surprised me and gave it to me.   It was covered with a red wrapping paper and I opened it slowly to savour the moment. There was a gift that a lot of girls crave for since childhood. That is, a very cute teddy whinnie the pooh. Its color is orange. The bear is wearing a graduation gown and represents a graduate.  Now I feel like my friends gave it to me looking into the future as that bear wears glasses. It seemed  like the teddy represented a part of my future. A future in which i had graduated and completed my studies, a celebration for my hard work at school. Now I wonder if this represented a small step in my life and was a prophecy of what was to happen.😳

An Unforgettable Victory

I participated in a music competition in 7th grade. There were four  rounds in the competition with  three judges assessing performance. There were not only school students but Sunday school students for this competition. That day, I trained well for the competition, and I had to compete for first place. I was a little scared and so nervous. This was not only for myself but for the reputation of my school as by competing, i was showing the talents of its cohort. There were 3 contestants representing my school alongside me. However, only I qualified for the final round. There were about a total of 150 contestants for this  competition.  Everyone performed and finally, they gave the results on the same day. They selected 10 out of 150 contestants. It was announced that I was ranked 10th out of 150 contestants. Hearing this I felt so happy that I could not speak. My Success So Far

 We all have different things that we can be happy about in life. One of them is the happiness attained from our achievements. Defeats also affect how satisfied we can be by an achievement.   The first major achievement I had was passing the ordinary level examination and entering a leading girl's school in Sri Lanka. I won many All- Island awards from that school. I have won first place in Chaturanga singing style, dance competitions, and drama competitions.  The next big achievement I got is passing the A-level exam. Getting a University degree is also a great achievement that was attainable for me due to my hard work in school. I am currently living the University life. Being the first child in my family to get a University degree is also a great achievement for me as I am now a leading role model for my younger brother. A Funeral

 It was a dark day with heavy rain, even so my brother and I went to school as usual, yet I felt a very strange feeling that day. I don't know what to say about it, but it was an uneasy feeling. I entered the school and could not believe the message that I later received. It was a sad message. A message brought a sense of mourning. A message from my mother who was in the hospital at that time regarding the death of my grandfather. It was like a nightmare.  When I went home after school, I saw my mother crying. Later we went to my grandfather's village house, there were neighbors near the house. They helped a lot in the funeral home.  Grandfather's dead body was brought home, and we all cried. I cried too. My grandfather was dressed in his old police uniform as to pay respects to the time he had served under law enforcement. His body was given the police salute. It was the first and last time I saw him in his police uniform. It was a sad moment, a moment I can never forget...

My Weakness

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Everyone likes to talk  and show their strengths, but I would like to share my weaknesses.🙂 I am a hot tempered person, but sometimes I'm sensitive. Once, when my pet Kiri  died. I cried a lot, thus leading me to believe that I'm a sensitive person. I'm also an over ambitions person and an extravagant person. My biggest weakness is I easily believe others. I do believe specially those who put me into troubles.😕 I sometimes overthink things, causing delays in the decisions I have to make. In order to combat the weaknesses I have, I  like to practice meditating  , dancing, playing games, playing violin and listen to songs I like, which helps me to overcome my weaknesses. I am always working towards a better me, a version of me that has less of these weaknesses.
